The first portion of this 6-weeker will cover the complete ‘Audition’ process, including
pre-reads; callbacks; screen tests; chemistry reads; and character and script breakdown.
The second portion will consist of ‘On-Set’ work. We will focus on scenework and
working ‘On Set’, including performance direction and redirection; camera and stage
blocking; and pick-ups and reshoots.
All work will be on-camera and played back for review/critique.
Material will range from a variety of creative, challenging film and television scripts,
including projects in development and production at HBO.
DON PHILLIP SMITH BIO:
Don Phillip Smith is a California native whose television and film career began
at CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” during his college years. After eight years
of working with the Y&R casting department and directing team, Don went on to
produce Aaron Spelling’s “Sunset Beach” and cast NBC’s “Passions”. Don then
transitioned back to the Y&R directing team while also venturing into prime-time
casting with such hits as CBS’ “CSI: Miami” and “Medium”.
Following his run of prime-time casting, Don wrote and sold an episodic pilot
script to HBO Entertainment, West Coast, where he has worked as a
Development Producer for HBO Series, Films, and Talent Development
Don is currently in charge of writing and producing new film and episodic
material for HBO as well as well as auditioning, recruiting, and casting new talent
into the HBO fold.
